Who/What are we?
OW:Videogames is/was Retro Remakes and is ran by Rob. We post about videogames that we like and think you might like too. Our only criteria is that we like at least one thing about it.
Want to drop us a line about something? mail Rob. He's slow but he gets there in the end.
owVideogames is dedicated to the memory of Steve Phelps aka The Toker and is produced with the utmost of thanks to [JJ].

Get Posted!
Got a game you think we might like and want to post about? Want to know how to get it posted here?
1. Have something for us to show and post about.
Videos, screenshots, playable builds. Give us a reason to want to post about it and give us something to post. We're mainly interested in awesome looking hobbyist stuff, retro remakes and curiosities but hey, try us. You never know. We like games.
2. Get in touch!
You can tweet me, mail me, rail me. No, don't rail me.
3. Be nice! We like nice!
Being nice is *so* much better than just firing off a generic press release and more likely to entice us to have a gander at your stuff.

Came for the remakes, only want the remakes?
That's ok, we've preserved all the Retro Remakes posts for all time and the drop list of remakes will continue to function and be added to should any more pass through our doors.

Stealth Bastard

Hah. It’s like Impossible Mission meets Super Meat Boy meets Metal Gear Solid in a dark alley. Not a light alley because then everyone would see it and YOU WILL DIE. Yes.
Stealth Bastard is a brilliantly named and rather wonderful stealth-em-up-platformer and one of my favourite things of the year. Not just for the name, obviously. Ok, mostly for the name.
Whilst you’re nipping off to download it and play it (for it is free), I’ll be inventing brand new box quotes for it…
“If you only play one bastard this year, play this!”
“If you like bastards and you like stealth, you’ll love this”
“It’s like a bastard on stealth!”

Data Jammers:FastForward

I’d like to live in a world where a new Digital Eel game is considered something of an event, something we all celebrate. With very strong stuff, obviously.
Data Jammers is videogames as promised, the future that almost never arrived. We got distracted by shiny things, we forgot the future was supposed to entail glowing cars on glowing tracks glowing. And racing.
And data. In 1984, it sounded like a statement of the future. DATA.
A few years later, we disassembled Number 5, we went for guns and glory, FPS over futurism and forgot the flying cars. What were we thinking?
Data Jammers is available on Steam later tonight or available now from Shrapnel Games. Also with a demo. Because we all like demos.
Snake Invaders
RomCheckFail

Just a quick one! The ever awesome Mr Farbs (and he is awesome, every home should have one) has released the source code to ROMCHECKFAIL for people to play with. Which gives me an excuse to post about ROMCHECKFAIL again.
For it is fabulous and the whole world shall play ROMCHECKFAIL.
Leg It

Do I ever tire of mock-handhelds? Is there a joke in there? Probably! Does anyone care? WAKE UP AT THE BACK.
Leg It is a game about running. Legging it, to be precise. In Leg It you have to leg it (Scroll down a bit). Also featured, Zombie – another mock handheld game. When I say “Run”, RUN!
Space Rubbish

Last pay one for the day, promise!
Seamlessly leading in from my professed love of green grids comes the undisputed heavyweight champion of green grids, Datasette (under the guise of Slakinov) with his big old pile of Space Rubbish.
It’s a fab take on Asteroids that, well, just watch the trailer. It’s a silly-low-amount of money to buy, available with DinoRun SE (which is nice), soundtrack and the game itself. So a bundle of bargain. Yes.
It’s worth it for the soundtrack alone, really.
Annoying “can’t really view on the iPod” site here or direct buy, buy, buy site here.
Jamestown

Oh lumme, this is good stuff indeed. Less than seven of your Earth pounds buys you an absolutely lovely and jam packed shooter courtesy of Final Form Games.
There’s a lot to like about Jamestown. That it’s an indie shooter with gorgeous pixel art. That it’s an indie shooter that doesn’t drift into the dreaded Euroshooty-territory. That it’s an indie shooter that’s packed to the gills with bonus modes and things and stuff aside from the well balanced campaign. That it plays bloody well great. Yes, there’s a lot *I* love about Jamestown.
So I’m posting it here so that you lot, yes you there, can give it some love too. Here, have a trailer that undersells the game:
Surveillant

…aside from being a complete pain in the arse to spell is a rather lovely take on The Sentinal for the iThing.
Helped in no uncertain terms by having a soundtrack from Vector Lovers, I must admit. For today, it’s down to 59 Earth Pences which is daft money for something so nice.
Soul Brother

Well, Hello Mr Soul…
Jasper Byrne’s finally managed to get this out the door and it’s so, so good. Really, genuinely grintastically smileworthy good. It makes me happy to just be typing this link to the game.
Reincarnate your way to negotiating the map. Be a cat. Be a bird. Be a small thing. Be happy.
And dance.
Lesbian Spider-Queens of Mars

Now there’s a title you don’t get to type everyday. Which is a shame as I’d kinda like to type that all day, every day.
Imagine, for a moment, it’s 1983. Now that you’ve finished staring at the video recorder wondering how to set the time on it and tried to work out which flavour of Soda Stream is going to taste remotely like something you’d want to put in your throat, imagine wandering into an arcade where rather than the industry still feeling its way around, we’d somehow managed to invent a time machine, jut forward close to 30 years in it, steal all the things we’d learned over the years, shot back in time and thrown them all into a game to ensure magisterial amounts of riches would await.
Then imagine they’d called that game Lesbian Spider-Queens Of Mars.
Now go here and play that game for it is wonderful. Off you trot.
Pic stolen from Tim because I’m running a massive temperature and shouldn’t really be at my desk but there are some games you can’t not post.
Cat Astro Phi

Rich Davey’s excellent homage to all things Gameboy and a slightly less perilous journey to the vee ee tee than had by most cat owners is long overdue a mention here, methinks.
Methinks a link might be of assistance also. Give me a tic. *rummages in pockets* Ta da!
