Who/What are we?
OW:Videogames is/was Retro Remakes and is ran by Rob. We post about videogames that we like and think you might like too. Our only criteria is that we like at least one thing about it.
Want to drop us a line about something? mail Rob. He's slow but he gets there in the end.
owVideogames is dedicated to the memory of Steve Phelps aka The Toker and is produced with the utmost of thanks to [JJ].

Get Posted!
Got a game you think we might like and want to post about? Want to know how to get it posted here?
1. Have something for us to show and post about.
Videos, screenshots, playable builds. Give us a reason to want to post about it and give us something to post. We're mainly interested in awesome looking hobbyist stuff, retro remakes and curiosities but hey, try us. You never know. We like games.
2. Get in touch!
You can tweet me, mail me, rail me. No, don't rail me.
3. Be nice! We like nice!
Being nice is *so* much better than just firing off a generic press release and more likely to entice us to have a gander at your stuff.

Came for the remakes, only want the remakes?
That's ok, we've preserved all the Retro Remakes posts for all time and the drop list of remakes will continue to function and be added to should any more pass through our doors.

My Eyes: The Dark Gyration

You are good. You must avoid all contact with darkness.
You cannot go outside the outer red ring, or the viewable room. You CAN go inside the inner red ring. This will give you bonus points but is also where main enemies spawn, so watch it!
A 6 hour project from Nal. Watch your brain.
The Noises In My Head:AVSeq

Quite surprised that AVSeq wasn’t more of a thing than it was. It made all the right noises, it had a demo, it had a reasonably fair price yet it seemed to get released and then… well, that’s about it. Unless I’ve missed some secret cabal of AVSeq players somewhere.
Match up atoms, make pretty noises. It’s a bit Rez-styled, it’s a bit Lumines at heart but it’s entirely its own thing and its thing is a good thing. A very good thing. A very hypnotic good thing.
Maybe when it hits Steam, it’ll reach the audience it deserves. In the meantime, here’s a small nudge to the rest of you to check it out. The demo is free, the game is cheap.
Here is a video. It makes less sense to watch than the game does to play.
Goodbye Eyes. Goodbeyes. Spheres Of Chaos 2012

How much is too much? Probably Spheres Of Chaos Much.
How much footage is too much footage? This much footage.
Spheres of Chaos 2012 is almost here. This is what it looks like:
I’ve been waiting 4 years for this so you can paint me in so many shades of super excited whilst I mouth radiophonic workshop noises at you.
In the meanwhile, the original is free and you should play it. Listen to this man, he is wise.
UPDATE: It is out. It is astoundingly Spheres Of Chaos-y. Don’t hit the warp without hitting the brakes. It’s $5.99. It’s worth *every* penny.
I wish I was a spaceman: Fireball SE

I wouldn’t have been able to resist adding a 5 on the end of the title myself but that’s me. And also just one of many reasons why I’m not allowed to name things too often. It ends in trouble.
Fireball is one of my personal favourites from the Radian Games arcade-game-things collection. It’s a take on Geometry Wars pacifism mode with a bit of Every Extend thrown in for good measure. And if that means nothing to you whatsoever, try “it’s a bit good, ok?”.
You’re a fireball in an arena. Things are trying to kill you. Luckily there’s some explosive things also floating about the place. Hit the explosives to buy yourself time between waves to not die. Collect the debris for prizes and points. Smile lots.
Anyway, it’s been lurking around a while in various forms. First on XBLIG then on PC/Mac and now it’s snuck onto iOS so you can do some dodging with your fingers.
Do make sure you change the sticks to floating in the settings or you end up with one of those hellish iOS fixed virtual stick things that no-one human can use yet still people persist with putting them in games. Screenshot is from the PC version because someone scribbled on the iOS ones. Don’t scribble on screenshots, folks.
See you on the scoreboards?
The Best Trailer: Star Command

I think we can all agree that you’d be hard pressed to find a better videogame trailer than this.
Stick with it…

Another Legend: Guardian Legend

The Guardian Legend Remake is a remake of The Guardian Legend.
It looks a bit like this…
As far as I can tell, work is still ongoing but not a bad start at all.
Zapper: Electro Man

Not a game I’m especially familiar with this. Electro Man is a remake of an old DOS game originally published by EPIC MEGAGAMES (which demands capital letters still) also called… drum roll … ELECTRO MAN.
Ta da. No, I don’t know either. Anyway, it’s a platform-y affair with a Robocop-esque character as the lead. It’s very DOS-platform-game-y, definitely. Entertaining though.

Morskoi Boi

As kids, who among us never dreamed of growing up to be a sailor? After we go to space, naturally. This arcade game was created for those who never forgot their childhood dreams. And so, you are now looking through the periscope of a submarine and the enemy ships are sailing audaciously across the horizon, back and forth. Press “Start” and the green point representing a moving torpedo rushes towards the enemy vessel. The rest depends on the accuracy of the player-sniper.

Booncey Booncey: Boonce

Oh come on, how could I not link to a site that describes itself as containing “thinly veiled knob gags” and then has absolutely no knob gags? Take that SEO experts. TAKE IT.
Sorry. Where was I? Ah yes, Boonce.
Bored during a geometry lesson, you start to imagine firing a cannon in amongst the shapes on your graph paper. Starting off with a very simple mechanic of ‘hit the target’ then including more complex ideas as the game goes on.
Here’s a video which pretty much explains the whole dealio better than I could…
It’s £1.50 on WinPhones with a possible PC port to follow later.
fAde

How much dodging is too much dodging? Probably fAde much dodging.
fAde is the minimalist six-dimensional tri-colored retro-inspired bullet dodging game!
There’s a lot of dodging. In three colours. With squares.
Simple stuff but probably pushing the limits of what my brain can keep track of. Which is nice.
Fruity Business: Five A Day

I must admit that whilst I completely miss the FULL ON OUT THERE that brought us Space Giraffe, I’m glad Jeff’s finding a certain funk in small game iOS development. So far, there’s not been a duffer only “some games that I enjoyed more than the others” although if I had to pick a favourite, it’d be between Gridrunner or Deflex. See, I can’t pick a favourite. Don’t ask me to do that.
I think I’m also a little sad that there’s no-one with the bollocks enough to go where Jeff went with Space Giraffe too, y’know? I sat down last week to play through some parts again and it’s still amazing years later. Frowny faces at the NUXX mode on the PC version though, it deserves to be played in its all out insane audio/visual glory.
So yes, anyway, before I get even more distracted. Coming as soon as Apple flick the switch is the latest of Jeff’s iThings, Five A Day and all the details are here.
via @llamasoft_ox himself, obv.
UPDATE: IT IS OUT. And sort of like a new age Time Pilot gone fruity mental. Which is a fairly good thing, I think.
