Welcome back.  Yoinks!

Don't know if you'll be here long, but some advice: wait until the screenshots and/or links that you plan to post are ready, and then start a thread including them.

no release date yet
But i'm doing an html page to give news.

i'm working with tomaz kac who is the coder of the great head over heels remake (see retrospec.sgn.net) so you can imagine how everything is moving. For now he is trying to make the editor works under vista 64 (because it is the OS installed on his pc). And about 80% of the rooms are done.

The muscial and sound part should be done by the famous infamous if he is still ok to work with us of course ... i will ask it soon

Ahhh yes.. i have a tune or 3 to finish, I have about 12 minutes of audio that ive been listening to on and off over the last few months, so plenty to throw around i'll tidy it up a bit and send you some preliminary bits see what you/the coder make of it and go from there.

Very nice indeed!  So are there going to be Linux and MacOS X versions too (like there were with Head over Heels)?

Thanks, thanks, thanks ... this was the very first videogame I had ( in the Amstrad PCW 8512 from my parents ). I've tried the demo. Very nice job as HoH, very nice too. Thanks for the intention to port it to Linux ... i had no words ...

hi everyone,

little news on the devloppement of the game
this is a little bit paused because the coder has difficulty to find time and it is very understandable because it is a big work.
As said before all gfx are finished and 80% of the rooms are created and integrated via the editor (which is very easy to use)

I can't do it myself because i'm on other projects (goonies and saboteur 2 remakes)

To finish it as soon as possible, i'd like to know if someone would be interested to work with us and try to finish the last rooms (between 20 and 30% of the total of the game i think).

If anyone is interested to participate to this nice adventure, don't hesitate to send me a MP

thanks

Just wanted to pop in here and say that even though I've never played the original, this remake looks bloomin' awesome!

I loved the similarly styled Head Over Heels remake, and I hope we'll see this one on Linux too some day. Smiley

Hi everybody,

I come with bad news, the project is aborted.

i've tried to remotivate the team but there is a lack of free time and real life brings some of us to reality. That's life but i want to thank them because without their motivation at the beginning i wouldn't be able to finish all the gfx

it was a really nice project, here is a link where you can download the demo of the old game

http://home.euphonynet.be/batman-remake/news.html

So is this the end of two years of work ?

Not really, all the gfx are done, there is a nice tune and i think there is a free 3d iso editor available by this site

What about the original level editor ?

Yes,the original editor makes a very nice work, but the coder hasn't free time anymore to update it and it doesn't work on vista or 7 64 bits. And i think that nowadays we could add some nice fx. And how to add a frontend ? intro/ending sequence?

What is needed then ?

Well, first thing is to create a MOTIVATED team with talented peoples (coding, music, sounds,...) having free time to work with me
I could make some adjustment on the gfx if needed, and add an intro/ending/ingame sequences, create new things to improve the look, but i am quite unable to code anything and i don't know if i could use the editor.
If a talented coder wish to create everything from the beginning with a lot of new fx, i am ready to work hand to hand with him.

Ok, what else ?

CONTACT ME BY MP, IF YOU LOVED THIS GAME AND WANT TO BRING IT BACK TO LIFE

Gutted!  I offered to help out but real life took over Sad  What is already there is rather spanky in all fairness.  It just needs someone with the time to push it on to completion

Yeah, I hope someone can pick up the baton and push it over the finish line.  Batman is too great a game to not be remade

That is crushing news mate. You've done such great work on it already. I wish I could help but I can't...well, probably not anyway.

You say "create everything from the beginning" - that seems like a giant waste of work. Are you sure you can't get the source code from the "damn developers who dropped the ball" for someone to build on? I mean, perhaps a new programmer would prefer to build a new game from the ground up, but perhaps someone else would be interrested if they had the original code?

From what I've seen, the graphics are all but done, the game itself is mostly finished, it's just the rooms need building (well, about 30% of them) and the finishing touches done.
