Decided that i will update a few of the tunes, not really happy with level 3 and 4's music so redoing them again, Im more than happy with 1 and 2's though they still stand up quite tall a fair few years later, title music is funky and the end tune.. well xD

Anyway.. i'll pop the new ones over to you as i finish em shez.

Completed all of the 2nd worlds sprite sheets today. This takes me to roughly 80% complete on the redraws. So here's another little teaser screen shot.

Going through this thread again, I am looking forward to it.
Being a platform junkie probably helps .
The effort that has clearly gone in makes me want to play it a lot more.

I think I'll like this one but when a game is committed to, any game or genre, it does make you want to play it more.

Thanks Scottige, I'd be the first to say I've not been entirely committed to the project. It's more of an open relationship, as it allows me to come and go as I please As the game came out pretty late in the Amiga's life, I'm sure your not the only one who hasn't played this game much or even at all. Hopefully the remake can at least change that somewhat?

As for progress, still concentrating on graphics. Just got a few more bit 'n bobs to finish on the world 3's sprite sheets and then its onto the last world. Here's a new pic showing some new graphics from this world http://twitpic.com/8l6h6

the 4th level now has a new ingame tune :-), ill pop it over to you in the week shezz and then sort out level 3's new tune, ive got a few idea's floating about but want to try and keep to the original feel of the 1st set that i did, level 1 and 2 im more than happy with so i wont be touching them.

I don't see why not (even though it might be a minute just before the new year ) Actually, its come along way these last last few months graphics wise. I'd say they are roughly 90-95% done now.

I did say I'd do a few of these but I'd forgot all about it until the last vid was posted. There isn't much left to choose from though these days to redraw!

How can you tell what pixels to do what with???

I think a lot of it is quite a specific step by step process. Pixels get half sized then each section has a smooth gradient added. He doesn't alter much around the outer edge so basic shape remains mostly unchanged, and uses a specific grey and colour pallette to keep everything in line. Then some artistic license is employed to make things right. You can see he uses parts of other sprites too to speed up the process and again to keep things unified. And the original will be on a back layer so he can flick between old and new to be sure he's not gone wildly off at a tangent. As you can see from the 2 vids, he does a section at a time, keeps to the same technique.

Good control of his chosen art package (dunno what it is, maybe gimp?) and a keen eye, and he gets the cool results.

It would be cool to see side by side compares at the end of the vids though or a few flicks between old and new...
