You can see the effect I'm trying to reproduce in Stella, the 2600 emulator. More info on it here. It really does look like cack static, but once stuff starts moving around it really comes together. My approximation, sadly, isn't quite there yet but I'm working on it. |

I looked at Ian's breakdown of techniques he used: http://www.bogost.com/games/a_television_simulator.shtml and went from there. Given I don't have the necessary umph in GM to do it effectively any other way, it's done with quite a few layers of stuff and some manual doodling trickery. Lots of fakery as usual  Haven't quite worked out how to fake the burn yet though... |

Fucked if I can get a decent pic of this to show off the effect at all and for some reason, vidcaps are coming out tucked in the far left corner of a supermassive window. I'm going to have to reinstall Camtasia I think, Fraps & GM don't mix  Finished off the titles, got player/bullet collisions working (although no death yet, *still*) and spent a stupid amount of time edging the grids for clarity. Right click, view image to see in massive big-o-vision.   |

At 1st I was unimpressed with it.. dying every few seconds because I didnt quite get what was going on (yeah im stupid.. sue me) but then suddenly it all clicked and I was having fun.. and that i believe is the name of the game >looks at the name of the game<.. ok its NOT the name of the game but if it WAS .. then it would be fitting to call it "fun".
