Hello All,

Just thought I would make a new post here, and post a link to a small alpha so hopefully you kind people can test it to see if the engine works ok?  There isn't any game play to speak of yet, but I just wanted to first make sure the thing runs on your machines.

Download Alpha Here

Instructions are in the readme, but for those who don't read readme's here is again...

This is a very early alpha test, just to see if this thing will run on most machines.  There is no game play yet.

To move onto the speederbike test start the game and then when in the space mode (you will see a looping interceptor) just press F10.  Press Space to quit back to main menu, pressing ESC will quit the game.

Cheers,

Unc

I did a quick test! Works on GeForce FX5200 but doesn't seem to work on an Intel Graphics onboard device, which is part of my Netbook Wink

But definitely nice graphics. This is so cool to play that stuff. Can't wait to see the end result but take your time, I am sure you will release a fine game  Wink

Awesome progress and work! You know, I wish you the very best for little Nixon Wink

If you have time later (which I doubt you will have), maybe you have interest to code a vector version for SW Episode I to III as well?

Vector games are so cool! I really like those kind of games!

Btw, StarWars and ESB vector version for PC would be cool as well! You think, I am exxagerating? Well, you know, you are right Wink But it would be cool!

Marcy

Looks excellent!  Speeder bike looks promising.  It kind of feels like I am looking up, maybe tilt the camera down a little bit?  I also had the urge to fly up/down a little.  Do you have that planned?  I can picture flying under fallen trees! Smiley

Red-5 standing by... 8-)

Works ok on a NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT, I don't remember that game from the arcades, the only ROTJ I remember was an isometric bitmap scroller (think Zaxxon) which I think was ported to the ST / Amiga, looks nice, I like the bright points at the vertices - nice touch.

Thanks for testing.  This game never appeared in the arcades, its more like how I would have liked it to be if they had made a vector version.

Hi Andy, In the final game I hope that the player will actually be able to move up and down as well, and like you say I do plan to add fallen trees which you can zoom under or over.  At the moment the alpha was just a tech test to see if works on most machines, over the coming weeks I will start to think about the actual game play Smiley

Nice start. Works fine on my AMD 3000+ XP SP3 with GF6800.

Runs way too fast on my work machine (2.33GHz Intel Core Duo)....however I think it ran at normal speed the first time I ran it. Also get some corruption near base of the trees, kind of filled cyan polygons almost like the the base of a tree (crappy on board GFX card).

Works fantastically well here.

One grammatical nitpick though.

Shouldn't it be "restore the galaxy's freedom" rather than "restore the galaxies freedom"? Tongue

If you could still hit him after 12 hours, you need to see a doctor. Having wood for 12 hours is not a good thing

more typos:
i think you put "inceptor" instead of "interceptor" somewhere in the text
you spelled "armored" the american way, but i guess starwars is predominantly an american production (except for many technicians and some actors) and i don't know your nationality
you spelled "millennium" wrong on two occasions, two different ways
i didn't look too hard, so there may be more

i was going to moan about it no working but i didn't realise you had to click the left mouse button first
works fine here: x86 xp pro sp3, on my lappy, with an nv8600gt
i would make the speeder bike shift slightly sideways as you turn, much in the way the x-wing guns do - and possibly twist a fraction also, to remove rigidity and promote immersiveness
slick effort so far

No worky for me on the first machine. All I get is a black screen with a toolbar on the bottom that says 'BlitzMax Application" Sad

System specs: 1.61Ghz cpu, 1GB ram, 128mb XGI Volari-V3, TinyXP Revision 02 with Service pack 2.

Will try it on another machine later.

Works with an ATI RADEON HD4870 on Windows 7, no problems.  Very fast and very smooth.  Looks really cool; I love vector graphics they look so arcadey.  I would also like to see the other star wars games remade like this for the PC.

Keep it up.

Hey that was pretty cool.  Especially the speeder bike section.

Silky smooth, ran rather well with Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT (laptop), Windows XP Home.
