Based on the Shaw Brothers classic, The Super Inframan. It's another top-down action game (I'm specializing!), but with a unique twist: Inframan cannot die. Trust me, though, when I say there are elements that balance against it. Let your energy drain too low and you become a gimp. Let time run out and people die. Fail to reach the exit in time and it's game over. What's a superhero to do?

The hero is like an R-Type with legs -- he has a host of deadly weapons and upgrades at his disposal -- and the enemies, all from the Shaw Bros film, are endless in number. The game relies heavily on run-and-gun and labyrinth navigation. In total it's 9 hair-tearing, destructive levels, and only practice and persistence will lead to victory.

I'm open to suggestions that help refine gameplay, as always. Enjoy!

A map would be nice or some way of dropping a marker/beacon.

Maybe have a limited supply of them to make it not "so" easy that'd take the whole oooohhh shit its gonna blowww!!! factor out of the game but it'd make finding your way back through some of the mazier sections a little bit fairer.

A little forewarning of when one of them boss creatures turns up too would be nice, maybe emulate another game with a red alert type alarm going off just before he appears. 1st time i came into contact with one he had sapped the crap out of my health and i had no way of attacking him lol.

Clearer definition on what you can walk on and what you can't, few times towards the beginning i spent a while just walking into things trying to work out what was an opening and what was a wall .. in the process i ran out of time. The only thing i can think of from a non artistic point of view is to make walls lines thicker so they stand out more.

Apart from them tiny little gripes with it, I think the game is fantastic and is definitely another keeper on my hd along with the mean fisted bio mech :-)

A man and a woman started to have sex in the middle of a dark forest. After about 15 minutes of it, the man finally gets up and says, "Damn, I wish I had a flashlight!". The woman says, "Me too, you've been eating grass for the past ten minutes!"

This was the most consistent complaint from my testers and I've been trying to think of a way to redo the walls without having to redesign the door. I may have to do that anyway, looks like. You think the building walls would be more distinct if I gave them the door's design? Maybe make the doors look more like garage doors or something.

The BOSS ALERT idea is kinda neat. I might give it a try. I may also boost the starting timer by another minute or two to give beginners more mapping time. I thought 3 minutes would be just right, but maybe 4 or 5 would be better.

Glad this one digested well for ya!

EDIT: Hell with it. I did the edits tonight to see how they looked, and the download on the 5thman Studio site is updated. Changed the graphics for the building walls and the doors, and raised starting time to 4 minutes. Lemme know if it's an improvement or if I should change it again.

Had a real quick play around with it and its a little better, still a pain in the bum trying to find the exit when the timer goes off, that kills me more than anything else.. still going to advocate the beacon/map idea that'd really help matters.

Apart from that as before, its a really good little game im surprised not many people have commented on it yet.

While I've been finishing Beyond the Doorway I decided to update Inframan to version 1.5!

- 3 difficulty settings: EASY, TOUGH, and NASTY
- briefings give visual aids telling you what the level targets are, and what to do with them
- Infra-Blades don't cut through walls anymore
- floor tiles cleaned up to look less like wall tiles
- a few minor things

Check the first post for the download!
