Hello,

Here's my contribution to the "Finish something month" campaign. :-)

Everyone knows Tim Langdell is a undercarraige and because I don't care about him and his way of doing business
I've remade Starbike which was published by The Edge Software for the Spectrum in 1984
...and I promise to call him a undercarraige if he writes me. :-D

Goto the homepage >HERE< or download it >HERE<.

A couple of piccies;

Balls of steel and a cast-iron codpiece.

That download service you use is a piece of crap and many type of restrictions...... It event want work here without crash (a least not here). Third attempt using Firefox works. {EDIT: This was nothing with the service to due, but more a ram issue I now have}.

I do happy to host the file for you, if you wont want you normal server.

Nice game, only I can see is he fall a little bit to fast? Elsewice no other thing needed.

The sound issue is a much worse on Win7 RC than Vista and choops and clicks a lots like  hell. I have pm you on the another forum.

Thank you. I've now added a link to the file hosted on your site.

I expect to make an update available in a week or so as there is a few things I'd like to tweak, and I'll look into the "fall-speed" and see if it makes the game better.

Could someone with user accounts on tigsource or eurogamer please announce the remake there?
-the whole idea was to see what will happen if it gets Tim Langdell's attention, and a posting there should help "spread the news" but I can't be arsed to register myself. :-D

rest of the game fell really really good and music suit nicely (dispite the sound issue, but I do soon to test and play it on my laptop which is not normally have these such of issues).

I hope I do not need to remove it from my server due the champ. We let see what happens.

PS. For other sites do NOT direct link to the game, it might been removed or changed.

One thing to tweak "Loading Ressources" - resources doesn't have two consecutive S's.

Senor Langdell is likely to be happy that he and his 'company' were credited properly in that game actually, he might even give you a 50MB! server for it and a BANNER!

I went to school with the guy that wrote this game originally - I think!  He was a sixth former when I was 12(ish).  He had started to create a wicked copy of defender on the school Commodore Pet (even as far as creating an attract mode). Don't know if he ever got it finished or even if it was the same guy although it seems a bit of a coincidence as Starbike was basically a defender clone...

will download and post comments on your remake and well done for getting it done.

What the....

That's NOT the plan!...in that case I'll start charging money for it. That should turn him pretty quickly. Cheesy

Exactly, Dr. Bacon, you need to-

A) Charge at least $50 for it
B) Have sales in (at least) thousands
C) Every blog marveling about it
D) Nothing to do with Bobby Bearing (oh wait, you're good with that)

Wouldn't hurt to also put a huge © and/or (tm) next to game name and 'edge' as well as in~

"Starbike" is © and (tm) 1720-2009 Dr. Bacon industries unlimited, EDGE and THE EDGE are (tm) of Dr. Bacon industries unlimited and its affiliates Dr. Ham and Dr. Chickenbroth 1629-2009.

Only then shall you hear the dooming 'HI' from the person in question.

I can't do anything about C but A & B are easy. Lemme see...

Retroremakes has just under 1000 members and if all of them buys a copy for $100 that should do it. Any takers? Wink

Haha, now that's just too silly.
...so it may actually work. :o)

- oh, and just what is it with you and German, eh? Smiley

LOL, thanks. I had to write and promise to behave. No my usual style but I guess I can make an exception. Wink

My thread over at World of Spectrum got locked because of complaints over the language I used.

We are more likely to lock a thread that *doesn't* contain the word "undercarraige". LOL
