Downloaded and played a few times. Quite good fun although still confused as what to do!
I'm sure the alien you rescue has escaped from Gribbley's day out!
Love the way the level name flies in.
Explosions are a bit weedy and player fire could be a bit more defender like!
Well done - a good remake!

I've just exchanged a couple of mails with Paul Curtis - programmer of the original StarBike Spectrum game. He seems like a very nice guy and wrote to me completely out of the blue. When I asked about the rights to the game he said; My brother actually pointed me at this remake and asked if I knew about it. As I hold the copyright, nothing will come from me, and I doubt Tim would even be able to find the distribution contract I signed with him. The " nothing will come from me" part is about the "lawsuit-factor" and he's okay with my version of it. Great, now I just have to worry about what Tim Langdell's might do (which is probably nothing - but you never know), but I do feel very tempted to put the game on my normal website. |

5 months later... I finally broke down - Tim Langdell has pressured me into admitting that I'm Dr. Bacon (by not contacting me). Longtime members around here probably already know that, but now it's official; "I'm Dr. Bacon and I remade Starbike". There...now it's out there. I've changed the credits in the game, made a few tweaks, and uploaded it to my own webpage. Click picture to go there.  |
