Der Uber Balls (cough), that's German. Cheesy

-the whole idea was to see what will happen if it gets Tim Langdell's attention, and a posting there should help "spread the news" but I can't be arsed to register myself. :-D
[/quote]

Senor Langdell is likely to be happy that he and his 'company' were credited properly in that game actually, he might even give you a 50MB! server for it and a BANNER!

I went to school with the guy that wrote this game originally - I think!  He was a sixth former when I was 12(ish).  He had started to create a wicked copy of defender on the school Commodore Pet (even as far as creating an attract mode). Don't know if he ever got it finished or even if it was the same guy although it seems a bit of a coincidence as Starbike was basically a defender clone...

will download and post comments on your remake and well done for getting it done.

Exactly, Dr. Bacon, you need to-

A) Charge at least $50 for it
B) Have sales in (at least) thousands
C) Every blog marveling about it
D) Nothing to do with Bobby Bearing (oh wait, you're good with that)

Wouldn't hurt to also put a huge © and/or (tm) next to game name and 'edge' as well as in~

"Starbike" is © and (tm) 1720-2009 Dr. Bacon industries unlimited, EDGE and THE EDGE are (tm) of Dr. Bacon industries unlimited and its affiliates Dr. Ham and Dr. Chickenbroth 1629-2009.
All rights and recipes reserved!

Only then shall you hear the dooming 'HI' from the person in question.

I can't do anything about C but A & B are easy. Lemme see...

Retroremakes has just under 1000 members and if all of them buys a copy for $100 that should do it. Any takers? Wink

Haha, now that's just too silly.

My thread over at World of Spectrum got locked because of complaints over the language I used.
Just how sensitive can you be? - they wouldn't last long here. Cheesy

We are more likely to lock a thread that *doesn't* contain the word "cunt". LOL

Downloaded and played a few times.  Quite good fun although still confused as what to do!
I'm sure the alien you rescue has escaped from Gribbley's day out!

Love the way the level name flies in.

Explosions are a bit weedy and player fire could be a bit more defender like!

Well done - a good remake!

I've just exchanged a couple of mails with Paul Curtis - programmer of the original StarBike Spectrum game. He seems like a very nice guy and wrote to me completely out of the blue. When I asked about the rights to the game he said;
Quote
My brother actually pointed me at this remake and asked if I knew about it.  As I hold the copyright, nothing will come from me, and I doubt Tim would even be able to find the distribution contract I signed with him.

The "nothing will come from me" part is about the "lawsuit-factor" and he's okay with my version of it. Great, now I just have to worry about what Tim Langdell's might do (which is probably nothing - but you never know), but I do feel very tempted to put the game on my normal website.
