Great game! Still have the tune in my head.

Yes, but not a problem with this game, I still stink its easier to understand to spacebar or enter in the menu as default. You can allways change them if the keyboard do ghosts. Its first you normally do in a game, and that is not to find the shift key. Personly I normally use left ctrl and left ctrl as firekeys.

I'm used to ctrl being fire nowadays (Wolf3d etc).

My first thought was to get it off shift because of the annoying windows sticky key nag box!

I tend to treat space and shift as no goes as a rule. I bung them in as optional choices, but due to the keyboard matrix thing Tim mentioned for Space and sticky keys for shift, a letter key is usually the safer bet providing you allow for international keyboards.

Great remake and a great game in it's pwn right. Love the 16 bit style graphics, and the gameplay is mostlt fair. Not got past level 9 yet!

Need to point a major bug. If you get past level 5 without using a life counter does bot ket you have more than 5 lives so loops back to zero.

Would like to see joystick support and maybe scan line effect!!!

Bur for me one of the best games I have played in ages 10/10

Really liking this graphics are super cool and plays nice and smooth.

Miner bug if you loose all your lives then restart after the game over screen you seem to have infinate lives to play with.

Great re-make though.

Quite nice Smiley

Played a few stages. You maybe should have the older miner say something about the stages where you need to take caution about the order of the platforms (where you have to kill yourself because you can't reach the other parts).

The first bigger stage with the mine cart is horribly sluggish for some reason, the stages before were no problem at all.

You might add a neat fade effect (walk into and out the doorways). Right now it's quite abrupt.

All in all, a very nice game!

try it in fullscreen if its sluggish (it should be better) - lv5 is the first scrolling level - and in windowed mode - its harder on your pc.

also - you can change the jump button to whatever key you'd like in the options.
myself - i just prefer shift.

Super, works as it should for me in both modes. Haha, it was funny though to see shift in menu as I kept pressing enter until I read the bottom text. Cheesy
Anyway, excellent game, very smooth.

Really nice remake.  Played through quite a few levels Smiley  The graphics are spot on, and presentation is really excellent.  The only niggle is that for me it was hard to understand which jumps would kill me and which ones wouldn't.  I guess with more practice I might learn.  I was wondering if when you died it might be handy to restart at the last safe point rather than back at the start?  Anyone its a brilliant remake and one that will stay on my hard drive.

yeah thanks.
i fixed up the bug with the lives. and fixed the settings file also.

once you know what platforms can be reached per level, they are all arent that bad.
theres 20 levels which repeat.
i usually go through to lv8 then loose 4 lives just doing the first jump at the bottom - which makes me wonder how such a seemingly easy level ended up at 8 Tongue

you can run past the springy monsters when they are in the air too.

Wow what a lovely and very pleasant version, this was never really my favourite of the series but this is going to get plenty of play from me,everything just seems to fit and play really well and its so smooth, this oozes quality which makes a lesser remake play like a top notch game.

On a note about the jump key in this and other games,i personally have always loved the space key and secondly the left control key,i guess the space is my preference from my years of playing on the C64,still stuck in my ways i know but it worked then and still does, now Shift on the other is just an insane issue on a PC,stick keys must be the most annoying invention in the life of computing, superb game though, keep it up!!

bug: fullscreen settings did not read at all and keyboard settings does first read in the option screen.

Yes I also noticed lives did not allways shown after restarting a game (I think, not sure). I Prefer the lives you see here is these you have in reserve.

I gonna think these have been fixed and just not have uplodated a new version?

Graphics is really nice and nice tune too.

Level 5 is somewhere much harder than level 4? The green monster in the middle platform is not really easy to avoid? Rest seen no problems at all.

If you are on the level I think you are on then pick up the pickaxe at the bottom and take him out, ther other monster is easy to jump over.

hehe, I did not really notice that on level 3 (where it first appear) and just waited the monster to move again :-D instead of kill it. I think some "kill" jingle tune should been used when got the axe?

Also Level 6 was easier than level 5 and the cart on level 5 is not needed at all (due the platform to left).....

Hi!
(Sorry for my poor english..) I haven't played the original game, but I really like your version, it's a fantastic work! Smiley The graphics are nice and it is fun to play! Smiley I play it since 3 days and I reached to the 16th level.. Smiley I just want to share with you some minor bugs I met. I can't express myself well, so I rather made some screenshots.. Cheesy Here they are:

http://homegnome.uw.hu/kepek/miner_bug1b.jpg
http://homegnome.uw.hu/kepek/miner_bug2.jpg
http://homegnome.uw.hu/kepek/miner_bug3.jpg
http://homegnome.uw.hu/kepek/miner_bug4.jpg
But these are really little bugs, and they don't affect the gameplay.
Greetings from Hungary!
Bye, HomeGnome

Was this Bounty Bob Strikes Back on the Spectrum? I really like this game Smiley

One small thing though, any chance you can write out a file that saves the redefined keys and whether you have set it to fullscreen or not? It's a bit of a pain having to do this every time you run the game?

Does anyone else notice the game feels slower when you get to the bigger than single screen levels? Maybe it's just me...?

Bounty Bob is more or less a clone, since its first released few years later, even its a really cool game and have a loveable hiscore table.

I have no slowdown issue, only a bit screen tearing, but none annoyring at all.

I Like the orange monsters = much much better :-D

settings.dat is still not read on runtime, but first on config and it allways start on windowed screen (I guess same problem Enigma also have and I pointed about it). I use Win 7 RC and guess its a

On Level 5, if you press Down just before the cart (which is not needed here, only if you died), he might move a pixel down. This is 100% no harm to the gameplay, just something very cosmic "bug" (if I can call it it). No need to fix it if you wont.

yeah caff. it does slow on larger screens - which is why i kept them to a minimum. i planned to make much bigger ones, but it hurts the cpu - especially in windowed.
lv 5 cart, is really just part of introducing features gently. you dont really need to do the levels in a set fashion, as theres a few different way to complete most.

the settings are save at options. if you wany fullscreen fast, then just hit the maximize button.
my silly oversight for not preloading settings. to be fixed over the weekend sometime i guess.

@ luxor. thanks mate.

Very nice. I found the ramp up of first the levels a little slow. I know they're introducing new stuff, but they're not a huge challenge and they could almost be moved to a "tutorial levels" section, but other than that can't fault it. Top notch!

I'll need to go back a give this a proper run through once "Finish Something Month" is over.
